The Turkish Basketball Federation has decided to step down from FIBA World Cup 2023 consideration
Instead, the Federation, who host the recent Eurobasket competition last summer will use the budget for basketball development in the country.
As the statement reads: the Federation wants to use 2023 World Cup hosting budget for basketball development centers, the installation and the dissemination of basketball to the whole of the country, as well as the development of the clubs.
It leaves Russia as the sole European candidate left to host the next World Cup after China gets their time in the spotlight next year with the qualifiers beginning this week.
Along with Russia, joint bids from Argentina-Uruguay and Indonesia-Japan-Philippines are being considered.
The final decision will be revealed on December 9.
