It took them until the eleventh hour, but Baskonia have matched Barcelona’s offers for Adam Hanga and Shane Larkin.

So the two aforementioned stars will not be heading to Catalonia as it looked likely that they would. The only way any team can sign both Hanga and Larkin is through a buy-out clause in their contract.

Larkin, a former NBA talent who joined Baskonia last season will pen a two-year deal worth €5.5million, while Hanga has sign a three-year deal, worth €7.5million.

Barcelona, led by Sito Alonso who was the head coach of Baskonia last season, can still attempt to lure the two players to the Palau Blaugrana but for Alonso, who has targeted Hanga and Larkin in the off-season, he has to do business to negotiate the Vitoria-side’s buy-out clause.

Larkin finished his first season overseas averaging 13.1 points, 5.7 assists and 2.7 rebounds in the EuroLeague where he started in all 33 games. He inked a deal with Baskonia in the summer, where he joined from the Brooklyn Nets.

Hanga led Baskonia to the EuroLeague Playoffs last season, averaging 11.9 points a game in the process. He was named the EuroLeague’s Defensive Player of the Year.
