FC Barcelona rewrote EuroLeague history on Friday, December 19, producing a record-setting 134-124 triple-overtime victory over Kosner Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz at Palau Blaugrana. The 134 points are the most ever scored by a single team in a EuroLeague game.
The night also set the record for the highest combined score in competition history. The teams totaled 258 points, surpassing the previous mark of 256 set in January 2024.
Barcelona’s output eclipsed the former single-team scoring record of 130, established by Real Madrid nearly two years ago. The game was the 6,368th in EuroLeague history and the first ever decided after triple overtime.
The contest unfolded at an extraordinary pace from the opening tip. Baskonia led after the first quarter, Barcelona responded before halftime, and neither side managed to pull away through regulation or the first two overtime periods.
The Blaugrana finally created separation in the third overtime. Barcelona outscored Baskonia 12-2 in the final five minutes to secure the win and seal a night that will stand alone in the record books.
Kevin Punter delivered one of the most prolific scoring performances in modern EuroLeague history. He finished with a career-high 43 points, the fourth-most ever in the modern era, becoming just the ninth player to surpass 40 in a single game.
Punter scored 23 of his points after the end of regulation. His driving layup with 0.1 seconds remaining in the second overtime tied the game at 122-122 and extended the contest into uncharted territory.
The guard also set a Barcelona club record with 12 made two-point field goals. His performance anchored a team effort that produced a club-record total performance index rating of 152.
Tomas Satoransky added 23 points and six assists, providing stability across all three overtime periods. Willy Hernangomez contributed 12 points and eight rebounds in extended minutes in the frontcourt.
Baskonia also reached historic numbers despite the loss. The visitors scored a club-record 124 points, the fifth-highest team total in EuroLeague history.
Markus Howard led Baskonia with 33 points, while Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot added 26 in a balanced offensive showing. Baskonia shot 48.4 percent from three-point range and finished with 23 assists.
Barcelona improved to 12-5 with the victory, while Baskonia fell to 6-11. The Catalan side will travel to Turkey to face Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, with Baskonia set to visit Valencia Basket.
