Leading nations and intriguing joint bids have been submitted for the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Two nations, both from Europe have submitted single-host bids with a total of five countries from Asia and South America putting in joint bids.

Russia and Turkey, who have storied and successful basketball traditions at both European and World level, are the two nations submitting single-host bids.

The Asian basketball-crazed territories of Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines are teaming up for a triple-bid in one, while Americas’ neighbours Argentina and Uruguay make up the other bid.

Nations wishing to submit host candidacies have until August 31.

Over the coming weeks and months, each candidate’s parties and stakeholders have the opportunity to meet with FIBA representatives for a workshop during which all potential aspects of the bid, hosting requirements and legacy elements will be discussed jointly.
