Sergio Llull drained a wide open three to force overtime and hit 22 points as Real Madrid overcame Oklahoma City Thunder 142-137 in a thrilling NBA pre-season game in the Spanish capital.
Playing their first game of the season, the Thunder led comfortably by double digits throughout proceedings but found Real gradually chipping away at the advantage.
Oklahoma City’s lead was then narrowed to 95-87 after three quarters and the Liga Endesa champions fought back to force overtime.
And, with their pre-season and a domestic league win over Unicaja Malaga under their belts, Real Madrid made their team chemistry count as they outplayed a fatigued Thunder team in the extra session.
Despite Llull’s heroics towards the end, it was veteran Jaycee Carroll who led Real with 24 points. Othello Hunter amassed 19.
Victor Olapido led all scorers for the Thunder with 34 points. Enes Kanter added 29 points and 10 rebounds.
