Real Madrid teenage prodigy Luka Doncic has taken to Twitter to announce that he will represent Slovenia in future international competition, and not Spain.

The Spanish Basketball Federation [FEB], recently opened its doors to Doncic to represent Spain in international events in the future but despite a vast competition for places, they were fairly confident of the 17-year-old’s skill-set, being good enough for the European champions and Olympic bronze medallists.

But it didn’t take Doncic long to dismiss Spain and commit himself to his home country.

It is likely that Doncic will see his minutes increase this season, especially in the EuroLeague where he was the last player off the bench last season.
