Charles Barkley avoids paying with credit cards

NBA legend Charles Barkley says he carries between $500 and $600 in cash every day to avoid using credit cards whenever possible.

The former NBA MVP explained that concerns about scammers and financial fraud have influenced how he handles everyday purchases, including paying for gas.

During a conversation with Ernie Johnson, Barkley was asked how much money he typically keeps with him.

EJ: “How much cash does Chuck carry on him?”

Barkley: “Five or six hundred dollars because, just in case, like if I keep around five or six hundred dollars in there.”

Johnson then questioned whether Barkley uses his credit card at gas station payment terminals.

EJ: “So you don’t use the card on the machine?”

Barkley: “Never.”

EJ: “To get gas?”

Barkley: “I never.”

Barkley confirmed that he prefers going inside the gas station to pay rather than using his card directly at the pump.

EJ: “So you always have to walk in to pay for your gas?”

Barkley: “I do. I just, I never use Uber, I don’t use Uber. I try to limit, because there’s so many crooks out there. I try to always limit my credit card usage. I pay cash for everything. I don’t want my information out there.”
