Jimmy Butler took a playful shot at Klay Thompson after the Golden State Warriors beat the Miami Heat 120-100 on Thursday night, posting an edited movie clip on Instagram.
The video recreates a scene from the 1999 comedy Blue Streak, starring Martin Lawrence, with the faces and jerseys of Warriors and Heat players swapped into the footage.
Thompson holds out a large white “W” before a Stephen Curry takes it from him.
The clip features Draymond Green and rookie Yaxel Lendeborg watching from behind a dumpster. It also shows Curry looking down, while the Thompson player eventually ends up on the ground.
Butler used the original audio from the movie scene, including the lines: “Don’t just hand it to me, I gotta take it from you” and “Remember, you don’t know me anymore.”
The post was a fitting troll after Thompson returned to Golden State wearing a Miami uniform. The former Splash Brother received a warm ovation before tipoff but finished with 11 points on 3-of-10 shooting.
Thompson had scored the winning three-pointer with one second remaining in overtime against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. However, he couldn’t replicate that performance against his former team.
Curry led Golden State with 29 points, making six three-pointers on 9-of-19 shooting. He moved into 17th place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list by passing Oscar Robertson with a first-quarter three-pointer.
Lendeborg contributed 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Green recorded a season-high 11 assists. Georges Niang added 13 points off the bench.
The Warriors took control in the third quarter, outscoring Miami 38-23 after a crucial 26-9 stretch. They shot 39% from three-point range, making 16 of 41 attempts.
Giannis Antetokounmpo led Miami with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Davion Mitchell added 22 points and eight assists, while Bam Adebayo finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Butler, meanwhile, remains sidelined while recovering from a torn ACL. His Instagram post provided a reminder of his presence around the team despite his absence from the court.
The victory extended Golden State’s winning streak to six games after the Warriors opened the season with three consecutive losses. They improved to 6-3, while Miami fell to 3-6.
The Heat visit Sacramento on Sunday, while the Warriors host Orlando on Saturday night.
