Gilbert Arenas believes Philadelphia’s offensive structure is making the 76ers especially dangerous after their 8-1 start to the 2026-27 NBA season.
Speaking on Gil’s Arena, Arenas praised the team’s use of movement, set plays and multiple options around Tyrese Maxey and LeBron James.
“They run plays, they run sets, they have motion, they’re nobody just somebody at the top these motherfu*kers sit in the corner, No. They’re running movement so you can’t sit and load up on anything, right?” Arenas said.
He explained how Philadelphia’s actions create opportunities for its key players instead of allowing defenses to focus on one option.
“So, you do a pick and roll, Bron is doing the pick and whatever you going to do with Maxey you have LeBron getting the ball back making a play, right? So, he gets to be LeBron without anybody in front of him,” Arenas added.
Arenas’ comments come as Philadelphia owns the NBA’s best record and has won five consecutive games. The 76ers defeated Detroit 112-106 on Wednesday, November 4, avenging a 106-93 loss to the Pistons on October 25.
According to NBAStatGuy on X, Philadelphia has also faced the league’s toughest opening 10-game schedule. Its early opponents have included the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks and Detroit.
Maxey has been the leading scorer, averaging 28.0 points, 5.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds through nine appearances. Joel Embiid is contributing 19.6 points and 10.0 rebounds per game across seven games.
VJ Edgecombe has added 12.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest. Those contributions have helped Philadelphia maintain its early position at the top of the standings.
The 76ers’ schedule presents another significant test on Friday, November 6, when they visit Cleveland. They then travel to Chicago on Sunday before hosting Boston on Tuesday, November 10.
