Trent Redden takes over Clippers basketball operations

he Los Angeles Clippers have temporarily reshaped their front office while president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank serves a six-month suspension for circumventing the NBA’s salary-cap rules.

General manager Trent Redden will step into Frank’s position and serve as interim president of basketball operations during the suspension.

The move was announced by John S. Gibson, who is currently acting as the Clippers’ interim CEO and governor while team owner Steve Ballmer serves his own one-year suspension.

With Redden moving into the top basketball operations role, assistant general manager Mark Hughes will take over as the Clippers’ general manager.

Redden has been part of the organization since 2017, when he joined Los Angeles after previously working for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He continued rising through the Clippers’ front office and was promoted to general manager in 2023.
