The Indiana Pacers are bringing back veteran forward James Johnson, adding a familiar presence to their roster ahead of training camp.

Johnson has signed an Exhibit 9 contract with Indiana after sitting out the entire 2025-26 season. The 16-year NBA veteran previously spent three seasons with the Pacers from 2022 through 2025.

While Johnson has not played recently, Indiana continues to value his leadership and influence inside the locker room.

The Pacers currently have one available standard roster spot, although Johnson is not guaranteed to fill it.

Indiana sits more than $5.8 million above the luxury-tax line and is expected to keep the final spot vacant as the regular season begins.

Indiana also made two additional roster moves, waiving Kowacie Reeves Jr. and Jalen Warley.

Both players are expected to remain within the organization and join the Noblesville Boom for the upcoming G League season.
