Dion Waiters says the financial success he experienced during his NBA career completely changed the way he traveled, including keeping him away from commercial airports for years.
After reaching the league and earning significant money, Waiters became accustomed to private travel.
He described it as part of achieving the lifestyle he had worked toward throughout his basketball career.
“I accomplished my goals, my dreams, I chased my shit. Everything. We hopping on jets. I’m talking about I ain’t been in an airport. It got to a point one time I hadn’t been in an airport in three years.”
That routine lasted long enough that returning to a regular airport became an unfamiliar experience.
Waiters recalled reaching a point where he no longer remembered the basic check-in process.
“I had to go to the airport one time, I ain’t even know how to check in. One thing that money did is expose a lot of stuff. I did a lot of stuff for a lot of people, spent a lot of money on a lot of people.”
