ImageThe medical tests conducted on Tomas Van den Spiegel by Real Madrid's medical team showed that the player suffers from osteochondritis of the talus in his right ankle.

The Belgian center got injured at a friendly game against Valladolid and at first the injury was thought to be a minor one. Van den Spiegel will have to undergo arthroscopic surgery with a timeframe for his recovery no being established yet by the medical team, but the player is estimated to be sidelined at least two months.

It is speculated that the club will keep one of the centers that were originally not in Ettorre Messina's plans for the upcoming season, probably the other Belgian of the team, Axel Hervelle.
