Former Belgium international Tomas van den Spiegel has been named as the new president of ULEB (Union of European Leagues).

Van den Spiegel, who retired from active playing in 2013 becomes the third president, a position previously held by the late Gianluigi Porelli (1991-1998) and by Eduardo Portela (1998-2016), with the latter has been appointed Honorary President of the ULEB in an unanimous decision of the Assembly.

After becoming somewhat of a journeyman in his career, the legendary Belgian started and finished his career in his home country, playing for Telenet Oostende.
