The Atlanta Hawks have significantly upgraded their perimeter defense by adding Lu Dort to a wing group that already features Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

At 27 years old, Dort brings a reputation as one of the NBA’s top defensive players, giving Atlanta another elite stopper alongside two other versatile defenders.

The trio is expected to provide the Hawks with one of the league’s strongest defensive rotations on the wing heading into next season.

The move also preserves the franchise’s financial flexibility.

Even after acquiring Dort, Atlanta is projected to enter next offseason with more than $40 million in available salary cap space, giving the organization room to pursue additional talent if needed.
