The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a one-year contract with veteran forward Trey Lyles, bringing him back to the NBA after he spent last season playing for Real Madrid.
Lyles returns to the league with plenty of NBA experience, having previously suited up for the Jazz, Nuggets, Spurs, Pistons, and Kings.
Across his career, he has averaged 7.6 points and 4.3 rebounds while providing frontcourt depth and the ability to stretch the floor.
Despite adding Lyles, the Timberwolves continue to hold out hope that LeBron James could ultimately choose Minnesota in free agency.
The team is reportedly keeping a roster spot available in case an opportunity to sign the four-time NBA champion materializes.
Minnesota views Lyles as an ideal floor-spacing big man after he shot an impressive 43 percent from three-point range during his stint with Real Madrid, giving the club another reliable outside shooting option in the frontcourt.
Lyles is represented by Octagon’s Alex Saratsis, who negotiated the one-year agreement with the Timberwolves.
