The Sacramento Kings have placed Kevin Huerter and Trey Lyles on the trading block as they look to improve their roster following a disappointing start to the 2024-25 season.
Despite high expectations entering the season, including the addition of DeMar DeRozan, the Kings find themselves in 12th place in the Western Conference with a 13-13 record. This underperformance has prompted Sacramento to explore potential upgrades via trade.
NBA insider Marc Stein reported that the Kings are aggressively seeking improvements, with both Huerter and Lyles made available for trade. The team’s willingness to move these two players comes as Sacramento searches for a better balance to help boost its position in the standings.
Huerter, 26, is in the third year of a four-year, $65 million contract. The shooting guard has averaged 9.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2 assists in 20.9 minutes per game this season.
Lyles, who is 29, is in the final year of a two-year, $16 million contract. He has been averaging 5.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in 12 minutes per game.
