The Celtics have intensified their efforts to trade Jaylen Brown, reportedly reaching out to approximately eight to 10 teams over the past several days while maintaining a steep asking price.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Brown has not requested a trade or expressed a desire to leave Boston, with the organization driving all of the discussions.

“Sources tell me the Celtics have actually started strongly shopping Jaylen Brown, soliciting offers from a market of about 8 to 10 teams in the last several days,” Charania said.

“It’s unclear whether a deal is close or where they necessarily stand, but there’s been a high price threshold that the Celtics have set from the outset of any type of a Jaylen Brown trade.”

Charania added that Boston previously offered Brown and two first-round picks to the Bucks in an attempt to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo.

With no comparable star currently available, the Celtics have instead sought trade packages centered around draft capital, reportedly asking some teams for at least four first-round picks.

He also emphasized that Brown has not been pushing for a move.

“And just to be clear here, this is the organization choosing to put Jaylen Brown’s name out there among teams. My understanding is Jaylen Brown has not requested a trade. This is not something that he has advocated for.”

Brian Windhorst believes Boston has already decided to move on from Brown and will continue exploring trades even if one is not completed before the season begins.

“They’ve decided that they’re trading Jaylen Brown,” Windhorst said. “I think they’re going to do everything they possibly can to trade him.”

Windhorst also pointed to the Celtics’ focus on acquiring future draft picks rather than established players as a sign the franchise is willing to take a step back before building its next contender.

Despite Boston’s aggressive approach, league-wide interest has not yet resulted in a deal, and there is currently little indication that a trade is close to being finalized.
