Draymond Green is declining his $27.7 million player option for the 2026-27 season, giving the Golden State Warriors additional financial flexibility as they pursue major roster upgrades this offseason.

By opting out, Green and Golden State can negotiate a new multiyear contract that would provide him with greater long-term guaranteed money while lowering his salary cap figure for the upcoming season.

The move is expected to help the Warriors as they continue exploring ambitious plans to add stars such as LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Green has played 14 seasons for the Warriors. He has averaged 8.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists in 949 regular-season games.

He was selected to play in 4 All-Star games. He has won 1 Defensive Player of the Year award and 4 NBA championships.
