The Brooklyn Nets did not make a push for Giannis Antetokounmpo before the February trade deadline, but they could be in a stronger position to pursue the Milwaukee Bucks star this offseason, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.
According to Lewis, Brooklyn’s front office has long viewed Antetokounmpo as its “white whale” and is aiming to become more competitive starting in the 2026/27 season. A potential pursuit this summer could align with that timeline.
“They’ll make calls (on the biggest stars),” one source told The Post. “They’ve made calls in the past.”
Antetokounmpo has played 13 seasons for the Bucks. He has averaged 24.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in 895 regular-season games. He was selected to play in 9 All-Star games.
He has won 1 Most Improved Player award, 1 Defensive Player of the Year award, 2 MVP awards, 1 Finals MVP award, and 1 NBA championship.
