Jaylon Tyson has emerged as a breakout contributor for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season, but a toe injury has now cast uncertainty over his role heading into the postseason, as Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.
Tyson suffered the injury during Thursday’s game against the Chicago Bulls, leaving early and ultimately choosing not to push through it in order to avoid hurting the team.
“It’s always difficult,” Tyson said, per Fedor. “I’m a competitor. I had a good opportunity today, so I wanted to be out there.”
Tyson’s role has evolved as Cleveland brought in players such as James Harden, Keon Ellis, and Dennis Schröder.
Despite the shifting rotation, he has remained focused on staying prepared and making the most of his opportunities when he sees the floor.
Tyson has played 2 seasons for the Cavaliers. He has averaged 9.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 111 regular-season games.
