After spending four months sidelined while recovering from foot surgery, Obi Toppin has returned to action for the Indiana Pacers and is working to regain his usual rhythm, as Tony East of Forbes reports.
Toppin shared that he was eager to get back on the court, even taking shots while moving around on a scooter during his recovery.
“We didn’t want to rush anything, but we still wanted to get out a couple of games just so I’m not going into the summer wondering how it’s going to feel when I’m out there playing real basketball,” the athletic 6’8″ forward said. “So that’s what we’re doing now and everything’s been good.”
East points out that it’s uncommon for a player to miss more than 50 games and still return before the season ends, especially with no playoff spot in sight.
Still, Toppin, who is averaging 9.1 points and 4.2 rebounds in 16.7 minutes per game, is focused on building momentum heading into the offseason as he prepares for a stronger 2026/27 campaign.
