Saturday’s altercation between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Washington Wizards marks the third recent incident involving Oklahoma City.

Earlier this year, Luguentz Dort and Jeremiah Fears were fined following a postgame confrontation, and Dort was later ejected for tripping Nikola Jokic, which led to another on-court exchange.

Isaiah Hartenstein pointed to the team’s physical identity as a factor in the repeated confrontations.

“It’s a combination of things,” Hartenstein said. “We’re a physical team. Every time we play, I think there’s always a chip on the other team’s shoulder. We’re also not gonna back down against anything. I don’t really put anyone at fault for that – it just happens.

“We have a passionate group of guys, and every time we play, teams are coming with their best shot, and sometimes, it just gets physical.”

Further discipline, including fines or suspensions, is expected to be announced before Washington’s next game, while Oklahoma City returns to action Monday in Philadelphia.
