Crew chief John Goble clarified the sequence of penalties following Saturday’s game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Washington Wizards, outlining why each player was ejected.

Champagnie and Williams initially received technical fouls for pushing during a dead ball, with Champagnie earning a second for contact to Mitchell’s face and Williams for his role in the escalation.

Mitchell and Wallace were also ejected for not acting as “peacemakers” and instead “escalating the altercation,” according to Goble.

Although Anthony Gill appeared to make contact with Mitchell, no penalty was issued after officials determined he had been pushed into the situation and did not act in an unsportsmanlike way.
