Memphis Grizzlies forward Santi Aldama will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee, the team announced.
As part of the treatment, Aldama will also receive an orthobiologic injection intended to help relieve discomfort in the trochlear compartment of the knee.
The Spanish forward has been sidelined since February 4 because of persistent knee pain.
Before the injury, the veteran forward was putting together the best statistical season of his career. In 43 games for Memphis, he averaged 14.0 points and 6.7 rebounds while playing 27.9 minutes per night.
Aldama signed a three-year, $52.5 million contract with the Grizzlies last summer after entering restricted free agency.
His shooting numbers have also been strong this season, connecting on 47.9% of his attempts from the field and 35.0% from three-point range, both marks higher than his previous career averages.
The team said in its official release that Aldama is expected to fully recover.
However, a clearer timeline for his return will only be determined after the procedure is completed.
