The Boston Celtics are expected to sign free agent center Charles Bassey to a 10-day contract, league sources told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

It will be Bassey’s fourth 10-day deal of the 2025/26 season.

The five-year veteran previously signed a hardship 10-day contract with Memphis and later joined Philadelphia on two separate 10-day agreements in late January and early February.

Most of Bassey’s season has been spent in the G League, where he has played 20 games – 17 with the Santa Cruz Warriors and three with the Delaware Blue Coats.

He averaged 20.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks while shooting .606/.426/.654 in 29.9 minutes per game.

Bassey was selected by Philadelphia with the 53rd pick in the 2021 draft and later spent three seasons with San Antonio.

Injuries limited his time with the Spurs, including a patella fracture in 2022/23 and a season-ending ACL tear in December 2023.

He appeared in 36 games last season, averaging 4.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in 10.4 minutes.

The 6-foot-10 center also impressed with Boston during Summer League in Las Vegas, averaging 15.3 points and 11.0 rebounds while shooting 70.4% from the field in three games.

Boston had been carrying only 12 players on the roster while working to move below the luxury tax line.

As Yossi Gozlan of The Third Apron notes, the Celtics will still need to add another player along with Bassey.
