Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley highlighted his team’s ability to withstand Cleveland’s late-game surge following a 128-122 victory on Wednesday at Kia Center. “I think down the stretch it did come down to shot making. They hit some big-time shots,” he said, acknowledging the challenges posed by James Harden and Donovan Mitchell.

Mosley emphasized the importance of defensive effort across the roster. “Jalen did a hell of a job defensively on Donovan Mitchell throughout the game. That was big for us in that situation,” he said, while also commending Noah Penda for guarding the veteran guard effectively.

Desmond Bane’s game-winning 3-pointer drew particular praise from Mosley. “Winner. Whatever it takes. He’s going to do. And that’s about the best word that describes him because he embodies so much of it. Winner and leader,” the coach said, highlighting Bane’s leadership on both ends of the court.

The Magic’s adjustments at halftime were another focus. “Our guys did a great job talking in the locker room about some of the adjustments we can make… taking guys off of certain guys to give Paolo a breather,” Mosley explained.

Mosley also stressed the importance of taking games one at a time. “It is one game. Win one game at a time… it means nothing if you come out tomorrow and don’t do a heck of a job against the Washington Wizards,” he said.

The coach credited role players for contributing down the stretch. “Wendell has always just done the little things… passes that he made to Tristan for those big-time threes, I think those are huge,” Mosley said, while also recognizing contributions from Jet Howard and Penda in key minutes.

Orlando’s offensive execution drew Mosley’s attention as well. “We have to keep taking what the defense gives you… take those mid-range shots and knock them down,” he said.

Mosley praised Paolo Banchero’s aggressive decision-making. “His mindset shift after the All-Star break has been just aggressive, quick decisions, early easy baskets… him having seven assists tonight, he’s finding the right play because he sees how teams are loading up to him,” he said.

The Magic’s five-game winning streak now marks their longest of the season, with the team showing cohesion on both ends. Mosley summarized, “You win as a team, you lose as a team… it’s by committee.”
