Dwight Howard filed for divorce Monday, but TMZ has learned his estranged wife, Amber Howard, went to court that same day intending to do the same.
Sources told TMZ that Amber was preparing her filing with an attorney, though Dwight’s paperwork was processed first. Despite both seeking divorce, the couple is reportedly still living together in their Georgia marital home for now.
Dwight spent the weekend in California with his son, David, while Amber remained in Atlanta.
This is not their first attempt to end the marriage. Amber filed for divorce last year, but they later reconciled and withdrew the petition. Sources say this time the separation is permanent.
TMZ previously reported that Dwight described the marriage as “irretrievably broken” and requested exclusive use of the Georgia mansion.
Police were dispatched to the home three times over the past two weeks, including responses to a suicide threat, a domestic incident, and a theft report.
The divorce filing came days after Amber posted a series of serious allegations about Dwight on Instagram.
