Detroit Pistons forward Ausar Thompson is projected to be sidelined for several games after suffering a sprain in his right ankle, head coach J.B. Bickerstaff said Saturday while speaking with reporters, including Coty M. Davis of The Detroit News.

“I think it’s going to be a minute,” Bickerstaff said of Thompson’s return timeline.

In additional injury updates, Cade Cunningham, who had initially been listed as questionable for Saturday’s game against Brooklyn because of a left quadriceps contusion, was later ruled out.

Bickerstaff indicated that Cunningham’s condition is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis.

Thompson has spent three years with Detroit, posting averages of 9.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists across 179 regular-season appearances.

Cunningham, meanwhile, has completed five seasons with the franchise, averaging 22.7 points, 7.9 assists, and 5.5 rebounds in 263 regular-season games, and he has earned one All-Star selection.
