NBA veteran Omer Yurtseven will continue his career in the G League after signing with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, NBA insider Jake Fischer reported Wednesday. The 7-foot center spent the past two seasons in Greece with Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens before returning stateside.

Yurtseven, 27, parted ways with Panathinaikos on February 28, as head coach Ergin Ataman favored Richaun Holmes and Kenneth Faried in the frontcourt rotation.

During the 2025-26 EuroLeague season, Yurtseven appeared in 19 games, averaging 6.3 points and 3.5 rebounds in 12 minutes and 39 seconds per contest while shooting 63.5% from two-point range and 80.6% from the free-throw line. In Greece’s domestic league, he averaged 10.9 points and 5.9 rebounds across 10 games.

Yurtseven previously played in the NBA with the Miami Heat and Utah Jazz. Over three seasons in the league, he averaged 5.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks in 11.8 minutes per game across 113 contests. He shot 53.5% from the field and contributed across both ends of the floor.

In Europe, Yurtseven played with Fenerbahce and Fethiye before joining Panathinaikos for the 2024-25 campaign, helping the team reach the EuroLeague Final Four. Last season, he averaged 8.0 points and 3.7 rebounds in 24 EuroLeague appearances and 13.4 points and 7.4 rebounds in 10 domestic league games.

Panathinaikos currently sit 10th in the EuroLeague with a 16-13 record after 29 rounds.

The move to the Vipers provides Yurtseven a chance to re-establish himself in the United States and potentially return to the NBA.
