A federal judge has scheduled a trial date of November 2 for Chauncey Billups, Damon Jones, and nearly three dozen other defendants connected to a federal gambling case, according to Aaron Katersky of ESPN.

The date was set during a status hearing held Wednesday at the U.S. Courthouse in Brooklyn.

Because the case involves such a large number of defendants, prosecutors and defense attorneys are still working through logistical details regarding how the court proceedings will be organized.

Federal prosecutors indicated that plea discussions are already underway with several individuals involved in the case.

They expect to present plea offers to at least 12 defendants in the coming days, while negotiations with others are ongoing.

According to prosecutors, nine additional defendants are currently engaged in what they described as “productive conversations” about potentially pleading guilty.

It remains unclear whether Billups or Jones are included among those defendants considering plea agreements.
