There is a growing belief inside the Dallas Mavericks that Cooper Flagg is nearing a return from the midfoot sprain that has kept him out since the All-Star break, Marc Stein reports in his latest Substack column.

While the rookie is considered doubtful for Tuesday’s matchup with Charlotte, Dallas continues its road trip with games in Orlando on Thursday, Boston on Friday, and Toronto on Sunday.

Stein points out that a potential appearance in Boston would be especially meaningful for Flagg, who was raised in Maine, making the Mavericks’ only trip there this season a notable opportunity.

Flagg has not taken the floor since Feb. 10. The No. 1 pick in last year’s draft has averaged 20.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists in his rookie campaign.
