ImageUnicaja Malaga has officially announced the transfer of British star Joel Freeland after his Gran Canaria declined to match their offer in order to keep the player.

As we reported about a week ago Unicaja had made an officially proposal to the player and Gran Canaria could not match the offer and keep him, as ACB clubs have the right to do so over their players.

Freeland (22, 208cm) played for Gran Canaria since the 2005/06 season and was one of their best players in last season's ACB play-offs battles between the two teams.

The player will also play in Eurobasket 2009 with Great Britain National Team.
