Questions surrounding Darryn Peterson’s availability this season, as he has moved in and out of Kansas’ lineup, are not expected to affect his position in the upcoming NBA draft meaningfully, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports in a subscriber-only story.

Peterson, widely projected as a top-three selection and a potential No. 1 overall pick in June, has missed 11 games and exited several others early.

Despite those interruptions, evaluators remain confident in his long-term outlook and talent level.

Former Sixers scout Michael VandeGarde told Lewis that Peterson’s draft standing remains secure alongside other elite prospects.

“I don’t think Peterson – or (Cameron) Boozer or (AJ) Dybantsa – will play their way out of the top three,” VandeGarde said.

“Those three guys are special. It’s probably ‘eye of the beholder.’ Peterson is spectacular.
