The NBA has fined Scotty Pippen Jr. and Myron Gardner $35,000 each for their roles in an on-court altercation during Saturday’s game between the Memphis Grizzlies and Miami Heat.
The league announced the discipline Monday, February 23, through Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations James Jones.
The incident occurred with 1:55 remaining in the fourth quarter of Miami’s 136-120 victory at Kaseya Center on February 21.
The sequence unfolded after the outcome had largely been decided, with Miami holding a double-digit lead in the final two minutes.
The Heat had already established control. The home team shot 52% from the field and assisted on 36 of 49 made baskets, creating consistent paint touches and kick-out threes.
Andrew Wiggins led the way with 28 points on 9-of-10 shooting and reached 15,000 career points during the third quarter. Norman Powell added 25 points, while Kel’el Ware anchored the glass with 15 rebounds as Miami won the rebounding battle 57-35.
The Grizzlies shot 47% overall and made 15 three-pointers, but they allowed 39 points in the third quarter. That stretch pushed the margin to 20 and shifted the game’s possession math out of reach.
Pippen finished with 18 points and six assists in 33 minutes before his ejection. GG Jackson scored a season-high 28 off the bench, and Jaylen Wells added 25 on 10-of-13 shooting.
The loss dropped Memphis to 21-34, 11th in the Western Conference standings. Miami improved to 31-27 and remains seventh in the Eastern Conference race.
Memphis hosts Sacramento on Monday, while Miami travels to Milwaukee on Tuesday.
