Grizzlies guard Scotty Pippen Jr. will undergo a sesamoidectomy to address pain in his right big toe, the team announced in a press release.
Memphis said a return timeline will be determined after the procedure, though the 25-year-old is expected to make a full recovery.
Pippen previously had the same surgery in October, though that operation was on his left big toe.
After that procedure, he missed more than 15 weeks and didn’t make his season debut until February 6, so it’s likely his second surgery will sideline him for the remainder of the season.
In 10 games this season, Pippen averaged 11.4 points, 4.7 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals in 21.2 minutes per contest while shooting .448/.313/.783.
He played a key reserve role last season, appearing in 79 games and averaging 9.9 points, 4.4 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per game.
Memphis has dealt with numerous injuries in 2025/26, with Pippen, Ty Jerome, Zach Edey, Brandon Clarke and Ja Morant all missing significant time.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was also ruled out for the season last month following finger surgery.
The Grizzlies recently received a hardship exception and used it to sign Tyler Burton to a 10-day contract.
The 26-year-old has spent this season with the team’s G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle.
