The Minnesota Timberwolves have waived guard Johnny Juzang, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, with the move later confirmed as official on NBA.com.
Juzang was one of several two-way players who recently hit the 50-game active limit, meaning Minnesota would have needed to convert his contract to a standard roster spot to keep him eligible to play.
Instead, the team chose to release him, allowing Juzang the chance to sign elsewhere before the March 4 deadline for two-way contracts.
As Krawczynski noted, Juzang impressed during the preseason, averaging 13.8 points in 17.6 minutes across five games while shooting 48.3% from three-point range.
However, that strong October performance did not translate into regular-season opportunities.
Although he was active for 50 NBA games, Juzang appeared in only 21 contests and received DNP-CDs in the other 29.
The 24-year-old exceeded 10 minutes of playing time just once and totaled 88 minutes overall, mostly in late-game situations.
The decision creates an open two-way roster spot for Minnesota alongside big man Rocco Zikarsky and forward Enrique Freeman.
