Timberwolves bring back Mike Conley

The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed veteran guard Mike Conley Jr. for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, NBA insider Michael Scotto reported on Tuesday. Conley, 38, previously averaged 9.2 points, 4.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per game in four seasons with Minnesota, shooting 41.3% from three.

Conley’s return follows a whirlwind few weeks in which he was traded twice and waived, moving from Minnesota to the Chicago Bulls and then to the Charlotte Hornets before clearing waivers. The Timberwolves move signals a desire to reinforce their backcourt with a proven floor general ahead of the playoffs.

Minnesota added Ayo Dosunmu at the trade deadline, but Conley brings experience and stability in half-court sets and ball security, a contrast to younger scorers. His ability to manage pace and minimize turnovers addresses the Wolves’ need for veteran leadership alongside Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle.

The Timberwolves are 34-22, sixth in the Western Conference, keeping pace with teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.
