Paul Reed took advantage of an increased opportunity in the Detroit Pistons’ first game following the suspensions, helping lead the team to a 113-95 road win over the Toronto Raptors.
Starting in place of Jalen Duren, Reed delivered a strong all-around performance, recording 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting along with five rebounds, four blocks, and three assists.
The player said he stays prepared regardless of how steady his playing time may be, understanding that both teammates and coaches rely on him to contribute whenever called upon.
“My minutes might not be consistent, but my teammates and coaches expect me to come in and be ready, and that is what I am going to do,” Reed said, per Coty Davis of the Detroit News.
“I take pride in that. To come in and know that when things go left, I can step up and provide.”
Reed re-signed with Detroit last summer on a two-year, $11 million contract, though his $5.6 million salary for next season remains non-guaranteed, adding extra importance to performances like this as he continues to prove his value to the team.
