Jalen Duren has decided to accept the Detroit Pistons’ five-year, $200 million fully guaranteed contract offer, reaching an agreement shortly before the 11:59 p.m. ET deadline to sign a one-year, $9.6 million qualifying offer.

Detroit initially presented the $200 million proposal approximately two weeks ago after spending much of the summer discussing potential agreements valued between $170 million and $190 million.

The prolonged restricted free agency negotiations created tension between Duren and the organization, with the situation carrying over into the opening stages of the Pistons’ preparations for the upcoming NBA season.

The 22-year-old center missed the team’s media day and the beginning of training camp while considering whether to accept the qualifying offer, which would have allowed him to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Duren also explored the possibility of securing a sign-and-trade arrangement, but Detroit remained unwilling to pursue that option, instead maintaining its existing long-term proposal and waiting for the player’s decision.

Ultimately, both sides reached an agreement on the fully guaranteed $200 million deal, ending the contract dispute and securing Duren’s future with the Pistons for another five seasons.
