The Chicago Bulls recently added guard Mac McClung on a two-way contract, marking another opportunity for the three-time Slam Dunk Contest champion to pursue a consistent role in the NBA.

The signing represents the latest chapter in McClung’s ongoing effort to establish himself at the league level after spending significant time developing in the G League.

According to ESPN’s Anthony Olivieri, the 27-year-old guard declined several highly lucrative offers from overseas teams in order to remain in the United States and stay prepared for an NBA opportunity.

McClung has remained committed to chasing his long-term goal despite the uncertainty that comes with that path.

“This [NBA quest] is where my heart’s at,” the player said. “… You can’t keep telling me no forever.”

McClung has played 4 seasons for 5 teams, including the Bulls and Pacers. He has averaged 5.6 points in 10 regular-season games.
