The Minnesota Timberwolves and Miami Heat are still viewed by league observers as potential suitors for Giannis Antetokounmpo as the NBA trade deadline approaches Thursday at 3:00 PM ET.

Even so, there remains a strong sense around the league that the Milwaukee Bucks are unlikely to move their franchise star before the deadline, similar to how the Golden State Warriors ultimately pivoted and completed a deal for Kristaps Porzingis.

With hesitation about dealing Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee has instead explored ways to strengthen the roster around him. One scenario under consideration involves pursuing point guard Ja Morant from the Memphis Grizzlies.

Memphis has begun leaning toward a rebuild after sending Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Utah Jazz earlier this week and could be open to a return centered on shorter-term contracts and rotational players for Morant.
