Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes has been handed a one-game suspension after pushing the Washington Wizards’ mascot during pregame introductions before the Lakers’ January 30 victory in Washington, the NBA confirmed on Thursday.

Video of the exchange circulated shortly after the game and was shared publicly by Bleacher Report on social media.

Hayes is scheduled to serve the suspension on Thursday night when the Lakers host the Philadelphia 76ers in Los Angeles.

The suspension will result in a loss of $19,824 in salary, representing 1/174th of his $3,449,323 earnings for the season.

According to sources who spoke with The Athletic, the Wizards’ mascot, G-Wiz, was not injured during the incident.
