The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Boston Celtics 117-106 to avenge a lopsided home loss and earn their fourth straight win on Wednesday night.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 21 points, Jalen Johnson had 19 points and 14 rebounds, Onyeka Okongwu added 17, Dyson Daniels with 15, and Corey Kispert had 13 for the Hawks.
On the other hand, Boston’s Jaylen Brown dropped 21 points, while shooting 9 for 20, missing all five of his three-point attempts.
Atlanta hit 42.9% of their three-pointers with 18 of 42 and had 29 assists on 45 baskets, as the Celtics were 9 of 34 from beyond the arc.
The Hawks were locked in defensively, opening a 21-point lead late in the opening quarter on Alexander-Walker’s three-pointer.
They held a 60-38 edge on Kispert’s three from the top in the second quarter before the Celctics closed the first half with an 8-0 spree.
Boston made a few brief spurts in the second half but did not reduce their deficit below 12 points.
Coach Joe Mazzulla removed most of his starters, and many fans headed for the exits with the Celtics trailing 115-96 with 4 ½ minutes left.
Meanwhile, former Boston Kristaps Porzingis remained sidelined with left Achilles tendinitis and was not on the trip.
Both teams will play at home in their next games: the Hawks host the Rockets on Thursday, and the Celtics host the Kings on Friday.
