RJ Barrett remains sidelined with a sprained ankle and will miss his seventh consecutive game Wednesday night against the Sacramento Kings, but his return may not be far off.
Michael Grange reports that there is optimism the player could be available as soon as Friday in Portland or Sunday in Oklahoma City.
The extended absence has been frustrating for Barrett, who has appeared in just six games over the past two months while dealing with both ankle and knee injuries.
As the team has struggled at times without him, the Raptors star has been anxious to get back on the floor and contribute.
“Yeah, it’s annoying, us losing some games and seeing, ‘man, I could have helped us here’, you know,” he said before Tuesday’s game.
“So, I’m just trying to be patient, to make sure that I can come back and be myself and really help us.”
Barrett has played 7 seasons for the Knicks and Raptors. He has averaged 18.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 410 regular-season games.
