The New York Knicks have been unable to build on the momentum they generated by winning the NBA Cup, stumbling through a stretch in which victories have been hard to come by.
With just one win in their last six games, the focus around the organization has shifted toward subtle adjustments rather than sweeping change.
There is little expectation that New York will break up its core, but league observers note that the front office is exploring smaller tweaks on the edges of the roster.
According to Marc Stein, that has placed Guerschon Yabusele and second-year wing Pacome Dadiet into the category of available pieces as the Knicks look for ways to rebalance the rotation.
Yabusele’s situation has been particularly uneven. After reestablishing himself in the league with the Philadelphia 76ers last season, his return to a larger role has stalled in New York.
Within Mike Brown’s system, the forward has struggled to secure consistent minutes, drifting in and out of the lineup without a clearly defined role.
Dadiet’s development has also hit an early roadblock. Selected 25th overall in the 2024 draft, he entered the season viewed as a long-term project, but his place in the rotation has quickly become crowded.
Other young contributors such as Mohamed Diawara and Kevin McCullar Jr. have moved ahead of him, leaving Dadiet with limited opportunities and only brief appearances across 14 games.
