The Los Angeles Clippers may be without Kawhi Leonard again in the short term after the veteran forward turned his right ankle during the third quarter of Wednesday’s defeat in New York.

According to Law Murray of The Athletic, Leonard has been tagged as questionable for Friday’s matchup in Brooklyn, reflecting some uncertainty about how quickly the ankle responds over the next couple of days.

Murray points out that the situation carries added sensitivity given Leonard’s recent history, as the six-time All-Star already endured a lengthy absence earlier in the season, sitting out 10 consecutive games in November while dealing with issues involving the same foot and ankle area.

That context helps explain why the Clippers may proceed cautiously rather than rushing him back.

So far in the 2025/26 campaign, Leonard has appeared in 26 games, providing steady two-way production when available.
