The Cleveland Cavaliers visit the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday, January 8, with injury availability set to influence a matchup between two teams holding firm playoff positions.

Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET at Target Center in Minneapolis, where Minnesota enters at 24-13 while Cleveland arrives with a 21-17 record.

Cleveland comes off a 120-116 home win over Indiana on January 6, snapping a brief slide after a 114-110 loss to Detroit two nights earlier.

The Cavaliers’ injury report features several rotation concerns, beginning with Larry Nance Jr., who is listed as questionable due to a right calf strain. Nance has averaged 15.0 minutes across 16 appearances.

Jaylon Tyson is listed as probable with an illness, a notable update given his consistent two-way production in the wing rotation. Tyson is averaging 12.8 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 43.9 percent from three-point range.

Dean Wade has been ruled out with a left knee contusion. Max Strus remains out following left foot surgery for a Jones fracture. Chris Livingston and Luke Travers are also unavailable due to G League two-way assignments.

Donovan Mitchell remains healthy and continues to drive the offense at 29.8 points per game, supported by Darius Garland’s 6.9 assists and Mobley’s interior presence.

Minnesota enters the contest riding a three-game winning streak after defeating Miami 122-94 on January 6 and Washington 141-115 on January 4.

The Timberwolves’ injury report is lighter, with no starters or high-minute rotation players listed as questionable for Thursday’s game.

Terrence Shannon Jr. remains out with a left foot abductor hallucis strain. Enrique Freeman and Rocco Zikarsky are also out due to G League two-way status.

Anthony Edwards leads Minnesota at 29.3 points per game, while Julius Randle adds 22.1 points and Rudy Gobert anchors the paint with 11.2 rebounds per contest.

This will be the first meeting between the teams this season.
