The Chicago Bulls have signed Yuki Kawamura to a two-way contract, replacing Trentyn Flowers, who was recently waived, NBA insider Michael Scotto reported on Wednesday. Kawamura’s return comes after he recovered from a lower right leg injury that sidelined him during the Bulls’ training camp last October.
Kawamura, 24, previously played for the Memphis Grizzlies and their G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle, where he appeared in 22 games last season, averaging 1.6 points and 0.9 assists in 4.2 minutes per contest. His brief NBA experience includes a career-high 10-point, seven-assist game against the Indiana Pacers in October 2024.
The Japanese guard began his professional career with San-en NeoPhoenix in 2020 before moving to the Yokohama B-Corsairs, where he played until 2024. He joined the Bulls for the 2025 Summer League and initially signed a two-way deal in July 2025 but was released due to injury.
Chicago currently holds a 17-20 record, sitting 10th in the Eastern Conference, just behind the playoff cutoff. The addition of Kawamura gives the Bulls a young, versatile guard capable of contributing both in the G League and on the main roster.
The Bulls’ backcourt features Josh Giddey, leading the team with 19.2 points and 9.0 assists per game, and Coby White, averaging 18.4 points. Kawamura will provide depth and playmaking support while the Bulls look to solidify their rotation for a potential playoff push.
