FC Bayern Munich has moved quickly to stabilize its backcourt, completing the signing of combo guard Nenad Dimitrijevic following the departure of Spencer Dinwiddie. The German champions announced the move on Monday as they continue to navigate a difficult EuroLeague campaign.

Bayern confirmed that Dimitrijevic has signed through the end of the season, with an option for an additional year. The deal reunites the 27-year-old with the EuroLeague after a brief stint with Zenit St. Petersburg earlier this season.

“Bayern Basketball’s backcourt is complete again,” the club said in its announcement, noting that injuries and Dinwiddie’s inability to return accelerated the search for an experienced guard. Sporting director Dragan Tarlac highlighted Dimitrijevic’s background across several elite European competitions as a key factor in the decision.

“With Neno, we are strengthening our roster at a position where we have suffered several injuries and after Spencer was unable to return,” Tarlac said. “As the VTB League’s most valuable player, with his development years in the strong Spanish ACB and a season in Milan, he brings a lot of experience to our guard rotation.”

Dimitrijevic arrives at a critical moment for Bayern, who sit 18th in the 2025–26 EuroLeague standings at 6–13 after 19 games. Munich ranks near the bottom in point differential and has struggled to generate consistent offense from the guard positions.

The North Macedonian international brings a résumé built on usage and responsibility. He was named VTB United League MVP in 2024 after averaging 19 points per game on 44 percent shooting from three during the regular season, following a championship run with Unics Kazan in 2023.

Before that, Dimitrijevic developed in Spain with Joventut Badalona and Valencia, appearing in 167 ACB games and building a reputation as a physical guard capable of creating off the dribble. His EuroLeague best remains a 22-point performance against Real Madrid in November 2024 while with Olimpia Milan.

“Munich is a great and highly respected organization, and when Coach Pesic calls you, it’s an honor and a no-brainer,” Dimitrijevic said. “I really wanted to return to the EuroLeague and want to help win as many games as possible right away.”

He has already completed medical checks and trained with the team, wearing No. 0. Bayern hopes his scoring punch and playmaking will ease the burden on Andreas Obst and Vladimir Lucic while improving late-clock execution.

Bayern hosts Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz on Wednesday before traveling to face Olympiacos Piraeus on Friday, with Dimitrijevic expected to be available as Munich fights to keep its playoff hopes alive.
